Love
30 June '97
"Expecto Patronum!" Tonks yelled, a silvery white wolf burst out of her wand. Remus Lupin thought that he saw her blush for a second. The wolf charged at the approaching dementors. It was not uncommon to find dementors creeping toward you in dark alleyways these days. Things were turning bad, very bad. Voldemort was gaining power and followers with each passing day. It was like history was repeating itself, except it was worse now. And in such dark times, the prospect of love seemed unimaginable. Yet, each time he looked at Tonks, his heart skipped a beat. He thought she liked him too, and he felt sick with remorse for having entrapped her this way.
They were heading toward Hogwarts, on a mission, and this was not the time to think about love. Dumbledore had asked them to patrol the corridors, just in case, he had said. Just in case what? What was Dumbledore warning about? What did he think was about to happen? Where was he anyway?
Death Eaters had infiltrated the castle and the students were in mortal peril. Remus knew, that the news was true when he saw the Dark Mark over the castle, something he would never have thought possible when Dumbledore was headmaster. Panic arose in him. What had happened to Dumbledore? How did the Death Eaters get in? Who aided them? Was Harry alright? Remus and Tonks rushed toward the astronomy tower, and there was no time to think, as they were both immediately consumed in the ongoing battle.
