Day After
1 Nov '81
Remus Lupin could see the first rays of the sun lighting up the world, symbolising the beginning of a new era. But his world seemed to have collapsed. He would rather have Voldemort back than face this. He hated himself for how selfish he sounded but could not care. There were celebrations going on everywhere, fireworks exploding, people rejoicing. But Remus's heart had turned stone. He stared at their names carved into the stone. James and Lily - two of his best friends, were dead. Their son, baby Harry, left an orphan. His third best friend - Peter - dead - because he had attempted to avenge Lily and James's deaths by pursuing - him - his last best friend - Sirius.
Sirius could not have done this. NO. It was impossible. Sirius would rather die than betray James and Lily. Apparently, Remus had been proved wrong.
He did not even get to say goodbye. So now he attended the funeral alone, his three best friends dead, betrayed by another who was now in Azkaban. Remus had lost everything he had in one night.
